NLU Cutoff 2026
Verified Closing Ranks
The CLAT 2026 counselling process admitted students across 26 National Law Universities. This page shows the closing ranks the Consortium printed in each university’s Cut-Off Rank Table, after the first list and after the fifth and final one, for 26 universities, every category and every domicile quota. Each row links to the allotment list it was read from.
How to Use Cutoff Data
Understand what cutoff rank means
The closing rank is the last rank at which a candidate was offered admission in a given category, in a given round. NLSIU's CLAT 2026 final-round General closing rank was AIR 120 — candidates ranked 1-120 in General were admitted in that round.
Set a target range, not a single number
Closing ranks move between rounds and between years. Use the verified figure below as a reference point for this cycle, not a fixed target — build in a buffer rather than aiming for the exact prior closing rank.
Build your preference list using 3 tiers
Divide NLUs into three groups: aspirational (your stretch targets), realistic (where your mock scores consistently place you), and safe (NLUs well within your range). This ensures you don't miss out on a good NLU while aiming higher.
Compare across categories
If you belong to SC, ST, OBC, or PwD category, your effective cutoff is significantly different from General. Look at the category-specific column, not the General column. Reserved category cutoffs give you access to NLUs that might seem out of reach based on General cutoffs.
CLAT 2026 Closing Ranks — Verified NLUs
Filter by category and quota. Every figure below links to that university’s allotment-list PDF for the round shown.
Round 1 against round 5. The first list is the figure most often quoted; the final list is the one that decides who got in. The gap between them is the reason to read the final one. See how far every list moved.
Note: domicile and other state quotas are shown under their own quota; they are filled at different ranks from the all-India categories. Spot-round and special-round figures may differ from the rounds shown.
Why is NLU Delhi not listed? NLU Delhi conducts its own entrance exam, AILET (All India Law Entrance Test), and does not participate in CLAT counselling. See our NLU Delhi profile for AILET 2027 dates and seats.
Year-over-year trend
Final-list closing ranks from CLAT 2022 to 2026, one chart per list and every point linked to its allotment list, are on the NLUs page. A missing year there is a gap, never an estimate.
Understanding Category-wise Cutoffs
Reservation percentages and domicile rules are set by each NLU individually (and, for some categories, by state law), not by one central formula. A blanket "SC 15% / ST 7.5% / OBC 27%" figure does not hold across every NLU — for example NLSIU's own CLAT 2026 allotment list shows separate Karnataka-domicile seats on top of the all-India categories, and NALSAR and WBNUJS each carve out their own state-domicile categories. Check the specific NLU's own admission notice or the Consortium's seat matrix for its actual reservation structure rather than assuming a fixed percentage.
General
Open category with no reservation — the seats and cutoff shown in the "all-india" quota above.
SC / ST / OBC / EWS
Central and state reservation categories. Seat counts and closing ranks differ by NLU — use the filter above rather than a single rule of thumb.
State/domicile categories
Several NLUs (NLSIU’s Karnataka seats, NALSAR’s Telangana seats, WBNUJS’s West Bengal seats, and others) reserve additional seats for state-domicile candidates, on top of the all-India categories — shown under their own "quota" value above.
PwD (Persons with Disability)
A horizontal reservation applied within the vertical categories. Check the specific NLU’s admission notice for its disability-certificate requirement.
