CLAT 2027 Result
Date, How to Check & Next Steps

The CLAT result is the single document that determines which National Law University you can attend. It carries your raw score, section-wise breakup, All India Rank, and category rank. This page covers everything you need to know — the expected result date, how to access your scorecard, how to interpret your marks and rank, and what concrete steps to take once the result is out, whether your rank is strong, borderline, or below expectations.

Updated

Expected Result Date

CLAT 2026 was held on 2025-12-07 and its result was declared on 2025-12-16 — about nine days later, following a provisional-answer-key and objection window in between. CLAT 2027 is scheduled for 2026-12-06 (Sunday); applying the same gap, the result would fall in mid-December 2026, but the Consortium has not yet notified a CLAT 2027 result date and this page will be updated once it does.

Official Source

The result will be published exclusively on consortiumofnlus.ac.in, the official website of the Consortium of National Law Universities. Do not rely on unofficial sources or social media claims. The Consortium will also send email and SMS notifications to registered candidates once the result is live.

The provisional answer key is typically released within a few days of the exam, followed by a challenge window of 2-3 days. After considering challenges, the Consortium finalises the answer key and computes scores. The final result — including ranks — is then published. Keep your registered email and phone number active during this period, as all official communications are sent through these channels.

How to Check Your CLAT 2027 Result

Once the Consortium declares the result, follow these steps to access your scorecard. The process is straightforward but ensure you have your login credentials ready.

01

Visit the official Consortium website

Go to consortiumofnlus.ac.in. The result link will be prominently displayed on the homepage. Avoid clicking links from unofficial sources or forwarded messages — always type the URL directly or use a bookmarked link.

02

Log in with your registered credentials

Use your CLAT application number (or registered email) and password to log in. If you have forgotten your password, use the "Forgot Password" option to reset it via your registered email or mobile number before the result is declared.

03

Navigate to the result section and click the result link

Once logged in, look for the "Result" or "Scorecard" tab in your dashboard. Click the CLAT 2027 result link. The page may take a moment to load on result day due to heavy traffic — be patient and avoid refreshing repeatedly.

04

View and download your scorecard

Your scorecard will display your raw marks per section (English, Current Affairs & GK, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Techniques), total marks out of 120, All India Rank (AIR), and category rank. Download or print the scorecard immediately — you will need it during counselling.

Understanding Your Scorecard

Your CLAT scorecard contains several data points. Understanding what each number means — and what it does not mean — is critical before you start comparing scores or making counselling decisions.

Raw Marks vs Rank

Your raw score is your absolute performance — total correct answers minus the negative marking penalty (0.25 per wrong answer), out of 120 marks. Your rank is your position relative to all other candidates, and ties are broken by a fixed rule (see below), not just marks.

Section-wise Breakup

The scorecard shows marks obtained in each of the five sections. This breakup is essential for self-analysis. If you scored well overall but poorly in one section, that section becomes your priority area for improvement if you plan to retake CLAT or appear for other exams.

Negative Marking Impact

CLAT deducts 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer, so four wrong answers cancel out one correct answer. Your raw score on the scorecard already reflects this deduction — strategic, informed attempts matter more than the sheer number of questions attempted.

Category Rank

In addition to your All India Rank, the scorecard shows your category rank (SC, ST, OBC, PwD, if applicable). Your category rank is what matters during counselling for reserved seats, and can differ substantially from your General AIR.

What is a Good Score?

There is no verified marks-to-NLU mapping we can publish here — the score needed for a given NLU shifts every year with paper difficulty and the number of candidates. See NLU Cutoff 2026 for actual category-wise closing ranks from the Consortium's own allotment lists, rather than a marks estimate.

How Ties Are Broken

Two candidates with identical total marks do not share a rank. The Consortium's published tie-break order is:

  1. Higher marks in Legal Reasoning
  2. Higher age
  3. Computerised draw of lots

Answer Key & Objections

Before declaring the result, the Consortium publishes a provisional answer key and opens a short window for candidates to raise objections against specific questions or answer options, usually with a small fee per objection. A Subject Expert Committee reviews the objections filed, and its recommendations go to an Oversight Committee (in the CLAT 2026 cycle, chaired by Justice V. Gopala Gowda, a former Judge of the Supreme Court of India; Consortium notification of 16 December 2025) before the Consortium approves a final answer key. Any question withdrawn or re-keyed at this stage is applied uniformly to every candidate's evaluation, which is why your final marks can differ slightly from what the provisional key would have given you.

Exact CLAT 2027 dates for the provisional key, objection window, and final key will only be known once the Consortium notifies them — check consortiumofnlus.ac.in directly rather than relying on a fixed calendar here.

What to Do After the Result

Your post-result strategy depends entirely on where your rank falls. There is no single playbook — the right approach changes based on whether your rank is strong, borderline, or below expectations. Here are three scenarios and the steps to take for each.

If Your Rank Is Well Inside Your Target NLUs' Closing Ranks

Congratulations — you are in a position to secure a seat at a reputable NLU. Your focus now shifts from preparation to strategy. Begin researching NLUs thoroughly: campus infrastructure, faculty, placement records, city, cost of living, and alumni network. Your preference order during counselling directly determines which NLU you get allotted, so do not treat it casually.

Attend webinars and connect with current students at your target NLUs. Understand the counselling timeline, fee structure, and document requirements. Prepare all original documents — Class 10 and 12 marksheets, category certificate (if applicable), domicile certificate, Aadhaar card, and passport-size photographs — well before the counselling dates.

If Your Rank Is Near a Target NLU's Closing Rank

A borderline rank means you will likely get an NLU, but not necessarily your top choice. The key strategy here is the float option. During CLAT counselling, you can accept an allotted seat while "floating" your preferences upward — meaning if a higher-preference NLU has vacancies in subsequent rounds, you get upgraded automatically without losing your current seat.

List as many NLUs as possible in your preference order. Do not leave out any NLU you would be willing to attend. Many candidates make the mistake of listing only 5-6 NLUs and end up unallotted when they could have secured a seat at a perfectly good institution. Every NLU on the Consortium list provides a recognised BA LLB / LLM degree with decent placement opportunities.

If Your Rank Is Below Expectations

If your rank is well outside the closing ranks of the NLUs you were targeting (see the verified cutoff page), NLU admission in your category may be difficult — though reserved category candidates may still have options. In that case you have three paths forward. First, still participate in counselling — spot rounds and special rounds sometimes have unexpected vacancies. Second, explore alternative law entrance exams: AILET (NLU Delhi), LSAT India (accepted by several private law schools), and MH-CET Law (for Maharashtra law colleges including GLC Mumbai).

Third, consider retaking CLAT next year. A focused preparation cycle with structured mock testing, targeted section improvement, and better time management can significantly improve your rank. Analyse your current scorecard section by section — identify your weakest areas and build a 6-month plan around them.

Frequently Asked Questions

When will the CLAT 2027 result be declared?

Based on historical patterns, the CLAT 2027 result is expected within 2-3 weeks of the exam date. If the exam is held in the first week of December 2026, expect results by late December 2026 or early January 2027. The result is released on consortiumofnlus.ac.in.

How can I check my CLAT 2027 result?

Visit consortiumofnlus.ac.in, log in with your registered credentials, navigate to the result section, and click the result link. Your scorecard will display your raw marks, section-wise breakup, All India Rank, and category rank.

Can I apply for rechecking or re-evaluation of my CLAT result?

The Consortium of NLUs typically does not allow re-evaluation of answer sheets. However, challenges to the answer key are permitted before the result is finalized. If you believe there is an error in mark computation, you can raise a grievance through the official portal within the prescribed window.

How do I download my CLAT 2027 scorecard?

Log in to the Consortium website using your application number and password. Navigate to the result section, view your scorecard, and use the download or print option. Save a PDF copy for your records as it may be required during counselling and admission.

Is there a CLAT rank predictor tool?

Several coaching institutes and websites offer unofficial rank predictors based on historical data. These tools estimate your probable rank based on expected marks. However, actual ranks depend on the difficulty of the paper and the performance of all candidates, so treat predictions as rough estimates only.

What is a good CLAT score for top NLUs?

There is no verified marks-to-NLU mapping we can publish — the score that secures a given NLU shifts every year with paper difficulty and the number of candidates. See the NLU Cutoff 2026 page for actual category-wise closing ranks from the most recent completed counselling cycle instead of a marks estimate.

What happens if I lose my CLAT login credentials before the result?

Use the "Forgot Password" option on the Consortium website to reset your password via your registered email or mobile number. If you face further issues, contact the Consortium helpline or email their support team with your application details.

Will the CLAT 2027 result include section-wise marks?

Yes. The CLAT scorecard includes a section-wise breakup showing your marks in English, Current Affairs & GK, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Techniques, along with your total raw score and rank.

How does negative marking affect my CLAT score?

CLAT applies a penalty of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer. This means four wrong answers effectively cancel out one correct answer. Your raw score on the scorecard reflects this deduction. Strategic elimination and selective attempts are important to maximise net score.

What should I do if my CLAT rank is lower than expected?

If your rank is lower than expected, consider listing more NLUs in your counselling preference list, including tier-2 and tier-3 NLUs. You can also explore other law entrance exams like AILET, LSAT India, and MH-CET Law. Many candidates retake CLAT the following year after a focused preparation cycle.
