CLAT 2027 · 6 December

The CLAT exam-day kit
Last 30 days to the last bubble

CLAT 2027 is on Sunday, 6 December 2026, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm IST (PwD candidates: 2:00 pm – 4:40 pm), on paper. This is a plan for the weeks before it and a drill for the two hours in the hall. The rules come from the Consortium and say where from; the advice is ours.

Updated

The last 30 days from 6 November

  1. Sit full mocks in the exam slot

One full mock every two or three days, sat 14:00–16:00 IST on the clock, in one sitting, with the phone in another room. Your brain learns the paper at the hour it will meet it.

    Your mocks →
  2. Analyse each mock for as long as you sat it

Every wrong or skipped question goes into the Error notebook with a reason: rule gap, misread, trap option, or time. The reasons tell you what to fix; the score only tells you where you are.

    Error notebook →
  3. Revise current affairs month by month

The section is passage-based, but the passages come from the year’s news. Go through the months in order, one or two a day, and test yourself on each.

    Legal Updates by month →
  4. Close new topics by the last ten days

After 28 November, learn nothing new. Use the time for mocks, your notebook and revision sheets.

The last week from 29 November

  • At most two full mocks, both at the exam hour. Spend the rest of the time on your Error notebook, not on fresh papers.
  • Download the admit card as soon as the Consortium releases it, and read every instruction on it: it, not this page, sets the rules for your centre.
  • Find your centre on a map; if it is near, make the trip once at the exam hour to time it.
  • Sleep and eat on the exam-day clock. The paper starts at 2 pm, after lunch: practise being sharp at that hour.

The day before Saturday, 5 December

  • The admit card, printed as the Consortium instructs
  • Every document the admit card asks for, originals where it says so
  • Pens of the kind the admit card or OMR instructions specify, and a spare
  • Your route, travel time and a margin for traffic
  • No new material. Read your revision sheets, then stop early

The Consortium’s CLAT 2027 instructions do not list reporting time or what to carry. Your admit card will: where it differs from anything here, the admit card wins.

In the hall: the booklet and the OMR sheet

CLAT is a pen-and-paper test. On the CLAT 2026 paper, answers went on a separate carbonised OMR Response Sheet, supplied with the booklet, and the booklet came in 4 series. What that booklet told candidates, and what we suggest on top:

  • BookletThe CLAT 2026 booklet said “Do not open till 2 P.M.”. Use the waiting time to settle, not to peek.
  • BookletIt told candidates to read the instructions printed with the OMR Response Sheet, on the reverse of the packet, before starting. Do that first.
  • BookletCheck your booklet before you begin. The CLAT 2026 booklet ran to 40 pages, including 2 blank pages for rough work. If pages are missing or misprinted, ask the invigilator to replace both the booklet and the OMR sheet.
  • BookletOn the attendance sheet, write the booklet number and OMR sheet number, and sign.
  • BookletRough work goes in the booklet: no extra sheets were supplied.
  • Our adviceBubble the OMR after every passage, not at the end. A last-ten-minutes rush is when bubbles land on the wrong row.
  • Our adviceAt every passage, check that the question number on the OMR matches the booklet. One skipped row shifts every answer after it.
  • Our adviceKeep the last 10 minutes for a sweep of the OMR: every bubble dark, one per question, numbers aligned.

Prohibited in the CLAT 2026 test premises: mobile phones, headphones, digital watches, and electronic devices generally.

A starting time plan

120 minutes, with 10 kept back to check the OMR. The rest is split by each section’s share of the paper. Treat it as a first draft: after a few timed mocks, move minutes towards the sections where a minute earns you the most.

SectionQuestionsAbout
English Language22–2622 min
Current Affairs, including General Knowledge28–3227 min
Legal Reasoning28–3228 min
Logical Reasoning22–2622 min
Quantitative Techniques10–1411 min
OMR check10 min

Question ranges are the Consortium’s approximate weightage; the CLAT 2026 booklet printed the sections in this order. You need not answer in that order, but bubble by question number whatever order you take.

To guess or to skip

A right answer earns +1; a wrong one costs -0.25. A guess pays on average when your chance of being right beats 1 in 5:

Options still in playAverage marks per guess
4+0.06
3+0.17
2+0.38

Averages hold over many questions, not one. Guess after eliminating; don’t spend minutes chasing a guess.

After the paper

  • Keep the question booklet and the candidate’s copy of the OMR sheet: the CLAT 2026 booklet allowed candidates to take both home. They are how you check your score against the provisional key.
  • Mark your own answers against the key the day it appears, using the booklet series printed on your cover.

Last cycle, the provisional key came 3 days after the paper (10 December), and objections closed on 12 December, at ₹500 an objection, refunded if sustained. This cycle’s dates will be notified by the Consortium.
