Choosing an NLU for Corporate Law: What to Check
Which NLU suits a corporate law career? We do not rank them here. This post lists what to check and where to find each university’s own figures.
Closing ranks only mean something next to a score. The free Diagnostic Test gives you a full-length paper and a section-wise breakdown to measure against them.

The three metrics that matter most for corporate law outcomes are: (1) percentage of batch placed at Tier 1 firms, (2) alumni presence in senior positions at those firms, and (3) strength of moot court, internship, and clinical programmes that feed the corporate practice pipeline.
Headline NIRF ranking correlates with these three metrics but is not a perfect proxy. An NLU with strong faculty research may outrank another on NIRF but place fewer students at Tier 1 firms, depending on cohort culture and employer history.
What matters beyond a ranking
Clinics and pro bono work. A law school's clinical programme trains students in practical problem solving. Ask each university what clinics and legal-aid work it runs.
Faculty mentorship. A strong faculty mentor in your second year can shape your internship trajectory, which in turn shapes your final placement. This is under-discussed but genuinely important.
Peer cohort. Much of what you learn in law school comes from peers — moot court partners, study groups, co-interns. A strong cohort multiplies your own preparation.
Pro bono culture. Some law schools treat pro bono as core curriculum. This shapes long-term career identity and career flexibility.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which NLU has the best corporate placements?
We do not rank NLUs on corporate placements. Each university publishes its own placement report; read those and compare them yourself.
Where do I find placement figures?
On each university’s own website, usually in its placement or recruitment report. Check the year and what the figure counts before you compare two universities.
